Welcome to My Philly Friendship Walk Fundraising Page
As many of you know, my middle child- Dylan, 7 has severe autism- he is mostly non-verbal and is in an autistic support classroom. What many of you do not know is that Dylan loves Judaism, music, cooking and many of the rituals that go along with it.
However, he is unable to enjoy them in neuro-typical situations with his siblings- Nico (8) and Jemma (3). The Friendship Circle provides programming where the three of them can go together- with trained teen volunteers(overseen by therapists) watching them and helping Dylan to participate.
This organization not only gives my children a place to go together (basically the only place) but it is teaching/training the pre-teens/teens of today and preparing them for the adult community which they will share with adults like my Dylan- in what I pray every night will be a world filled with love and respect for everyone.
I have great confidence that these volunteers will be the sensitive leaders of the future- embracing those with special needs- Friendship Circle is open to anyone with special needs and their neuro-typical siblings regardless of their religion, race or differences.
This community based organization has introduced my family to a wonderful group of families in similar situations that provide support for each other and can truly understand the shoes we walk in every single day. There are no words to express how heartbreaking it is on a daily basis raising a child with autism who cannot express himself- Rabbi Zev and Chani and the FC have given me hope that we are not alone- our community is there for us - providing constant support everyday in every way imaginable.
Did I mention that the Friendship Circle charges NOTHING for all of their programming and training- thus- this plea to you my friends, family, former co-workers, acquaintances close and far, etc. help us to change the world through inclusion ,awareness, compassion and most importantly- FRIENDSHIP.
Please walk with us - inviting your kids and their friends, sports teams, neighbors, co-workers, cousins, etc. It is a great day- with a family fun fair- a zipline, moon bounce, obstacle course, entertainment and food - to support this amazing organization.
If you cannot come, please share this page and please donate anything that you can. This year I am honored to co-chair this event and would love to see over 1000 faces attend (last year we had 850)
Check out the great video below about how to learn more.
If your company wants to be a sponsor- that would be great, large or small business sponsors would be great also or come and just walk with us and support us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
